How Does Seromix®  Work?

The Seromix® technology uses an enhanced iron chloride molecule, a secondary oxidizer, and injection and a mixing process to quickly coagulate and bind contaminants into large particulates, which can be easily filtered out.

  • The method of removal is a simple oxidation-reduction (redox) process wherein hazardous and potentially hazardous contaminants are chemically converted to non-hazardous, more stable and, in some cases, inert compounds.
  • Electron sharing takes place so that as one reactant is oxidized and loses its electrons, the other element gains the electrons and is reduced to a more stable state.

The Seromix® Mixing System differs from competitive technologies in 3 ways:

  1. Performance: The sludge that is generated from the mixing process, is non-toxic and non-leaching. The resulting sludge is therefore landfillable. The patent pending coagulating agent increases the reactive sites to attach a greater concentration of metal contaminants.
  2. Installation: Easiest in the industry. Snap in modules are flexible for sites where space is a concern.
  3. Time: Seromix® instantaneously produces a large micron precipitate, thus reducing typical extended reaction and retention times.

The Investment

The cost of the Seromix® Mixing System is in fact not a cost at all, it is an investment. It is an investment in the most versatile, cost effective metals and nutrient removal equipment on the market. It is an investment in the future of clean, potable water and assuring compliant wastewater discharges. The return on investment for a Seromix® Mixing System far exceeds competitive approaches because:

  1. Seromix® removes metal and nutrient concentrations to levels well below EPA regulated limits, or even to levels that are non-detectable
  2. Multiple contaminants can be removed in a single pass through (up to 26) without the use of additional equipment or costs
  3. Seromix® offers low installation costs and ease of connection to existing faciltiies
  4. The equipment and chemicals are custom designed and priced to meet the specific needs of even the smallest user

Cost Effectiveness

  1. Capital/Construction Investment: Seromix® is a compact mixing system that uses a modular design that adapts to meet any flow and space requirements. Capital costs are estimated at 50% or less than competing technologies

The 4 pieces of information that our team would need to design and size your Seromix® system
          would be:

         1. Contaminants of concern (ie: Arsenic, Iron, Manganese,  Phosphorus, Copper, Aluminum, etc.)
         2.
Concentration of the contaminants
         3.
Flow rate
         4. Does treatment currently take place on site? If so, does a treatment building exist and
             what percentage is unoccupied?

     2. Operating and Maintenance Investment: Seromix® operating costs are nominal. Power,
maintenance, chemical and waste disposal costs are minimal. However, in order to accurately
determine your O&M costs, Waterline recommends participation in a Seromix® pilot program.
