Residential Wind

System Rebates 

There are many financial incentives provided by the federal and local governments to encourage renewable energy installations. These vary among systems and states, but some examples of significant financial opportunities are below.
The list below demonstrates the range of rebates, incentives, and grants available. It by no means includes everything available to you. For more detailed information, visit www.dsireusa.org.

Federal Program
30% of the project cost is given back as a Personal Tax Credit from the Federal Government. This rebate can be used to offset your tax burden, and can even be carried forward!

Connecticut

State Programs
Up to $4 million as a grant towards project, and up to $50,000 towards feasibility studies. Property Tax Incentive for residential systems (single or multi-family homes)

Utility Programs
Net metering, excess generation paid out annually at the utility's avoided cost

Massachusetts

State Programs
MTC/RET - Grants up to $600,000 towards project costs for 100kW + installations. Corporate deductions for state taxes

Utility Programs
Net metering, with ability to share excess generation credits or monetize them

Maine

State Programs
Grants available up to $50,000

Utility Programs
Up to $0.10 per kWh from utilities. Net metering, excess generation credited for up to 12 months

New Hampshire

State Programs
Property Tax Incentive -- reduce property tax by the value of the installed system. Low Cost loans. Rebate up to 50% of small wind installation (Less than 5 kW).

Utility Programs
Net metering at retail rate, excess generation applied to next month and carries forward indefinitely

Rhode Island

State Programs
Tax credit for up to 25% of system cost for commercial or residential customers. Grants up to $750,000

Utility Programs
Net metering, excess generation can eithe be paid out monthly or credited to next month's bill

Vermont

State Programs
Real and personal tax exemption for renewable energy installations. Loans for Wind Installations that are repaid by special assessment on the property. Sales tax exemptions

Utility Programs
Net metering at retail rate, excess generation applied to next month for up to 12 months.
